This is what i’ve been talking about. NJBMX as a company is a mess, yet they want money to split for all te tracks. How would they know what to do with it? These guys cant follow simple by-laws. I knew this was going to happen. I am starting to think I should just go away and ride my road bike and try to remember the good old days.

Taxes paid by a 501c3 are really small, really its just a filling fee. Dont worry about that. But if the tracks want to share any grant any foundation gives them, then they have to show where the money is going. What do they think, get money do whatever and not have account for it? Yea right, that is going to happen. Again NJBMX has to come up with the proposal, outline the purpose, itemize the expences, then submit it. Remember NJBMX has the 501 status, its gets the money, then gives it to the tracks for the purposes outlined.NJBMNX writes all the checks.

I dont think the question is can we work with the tracks? but we need to work with the tracks. That is the only way this can work. The program must be complete, good tracks, good awards, good promo, everthing. Why have a great program, at a sub par track? The whole event must be good.

Brett one more thing dont put “cost not to exceed” put the exact ammount. Because when they request 5000 dollars, the items they are going to purchase have to add up to that exact ammount. Also, they will have to account for all the expendures.

Bill, good just like that. Put that on official NJBMX letter head and give it to me. Wow we have to write the proposal for them, is there anything they can do? Just kidding, but this same kind of proposal can be used to solicit other foundations. I will elaborate on that later.

Ok the list looks good. By the way I hope I did not overstep my bounds by suggesting Brett for comminsher and Pete for the marketing. I hope Pete wants the job. And if Farside is the VP, then its all good. Also Caveman and Bill could be reps and then we controll the whole dam thing. No need for a new company, this would now be a leverage takeover. Old busniess would be old busniess and a new chapter will be written. Also I would be glad to help with the money, but I will tell everbody right now I am going to tell it like it is, no bullshit. The only way this board can act is with full fiscal responsiblity. No more payments to the workers,no more NBL compition congress, no wastefull spending period. If in the future this company gets on its feet, then some consetions could be made.Untill then, nessary expences only. What the hell they only have like 2000 dollars anyway. There is no room for waste. Lastly sorry for my spelling what can I say?

Not starting over would be the best. If and only if we can get it together can we then move forward. I thought more about it and we can strainghten this out. If the board can get the new members then from now on everthing can be above board. As far as the new comishiner how about Brett, then make Pete in charge of marketing. Brett can help with the marketing issues. Man if these changes can happen, look out.

That type of racing is called Kerin. Very big in Japan. Head butting is standard. When I began doing matchsprint a former Japenese national kerin champion helped train me. On my very first sprint he used the headbut on me in the final turn. I was like “dude easy”. He told me I had a lot to learn.

WOW that crash was bad. All kidding aside that guy is really hurt. Not only is he cliped in but he is also strapped to the pedals. All track sprinters use that type of pedal. They work good except when you crash. For the record I have not had a crash that bad on the track. Hopefull I never will. Have come very close a few times. Cheat death much.

I dont think it really matters where the meeting is, the board could meet on the moon and they would have the same power. Bottom line is more members with the same goal. That is the only way I see change happening. Having a meeting next week is still a good idea, but without voting power no change will happen. I am not sure but I think the board is happy with the way it is, otherwise change would have happened long ago.Hopefully I am wrong, with Brett, Rich and some others on the board NJ can be cutting edge. Lets see…………

I have reviewed the by laws. It is pretty standard language. The rules look clear, and the responsibilities of the board members look clear too. I think the problem is that the board members are either happy with the way things are, or they don’t have the foresight in which to change it. I really don’t know any of them, I don’t know their backgrounds in business, marketing or promotions. What we need is people in place that have these skills. Only people with experience in these areas can make the changes. BMX is like any service, but you got to know how to sell it. Promotion is the key. Good marketing, good advertising will make it happen. Also a good understand of economics helps. One of the big problems I see is a lack of understanding of how to efficiently run a not- for-profit company. Again, I don’t know the qualifications of the people in charge. It looks like we have people here that have experience in many different areas. What needs to happen now is give control to the people who have the knowledge in these areas. You can’t expect change if you don’t know how to achieve it. My one recommendation would be that the board recognizes that they don’t know everything, and let the people who do, get the job done. Give up some control and we can move ahead.

I have raced in that place. Not only could you have two tracks, but also a velodrome, practice track, trails, skatepark, mtb park, and a indoor car show all at the same time. The only bad thing about this race is if your are an amature you only race like every 10 hours. Loads of down time. Other than that its the best race I have ever been to.

Caveman,I think that photo is from 92 or 93. 95 I was not riding for AXO. That was 93. And the helmet was done in 91. I had several new ones after that. No way I used it in 95. I could be wrong.
