No I do not know Tommy. We may have met many years ago. I think we are the same age, so we must have raced each other. I understand he is a good guy, and it looks like he loves bmx. What elese really matters? New Jersey needs more people who want to help.

I have ben reading this topic for a week now. Ok, I do not race bmx now. I race the road, and everyone thinks I am crazy. Yes I shave my legs, not very bmx, ok. Having said that, let me say clips are here to stay. If you want to compete on a national level, YOU MUST USE THEM. All you old school guys have to understand that it is not 1982. Things are much different now. Tracks, tranning everything. When I raced,I did not like them. But to win I had to do it. What is more important than winning? Me and everyone elese had to do it. Now I also agree, that something has to be done about all the novices using them. These guys need to learn how to ride a bike first. In the end,bmx is a great sport. It opened up many doors for me. I got to see parts of the world I would never have seen. Met great people from all over the globe. Won a lot of races, and had the time of my life doing it. This is what we should be talking about. This is the message we should be sending. Its all the good stuff. Not what pedals you use. Who cares? When I was younger New Jersey was putting out some great riders. We had great tracks, and a cool state series. Local races with like 50 motos. I dont know about you,but that is what I want the riders today to have.

    Rich…. and yes I will always be a bmxer……

New Jersey can do the same thing. And its not that hard. The same proposal that the board gave to me can be used for other foundations. Fundrasing is key when you have a not for profit. Its just takes some leg work and reasearch to do it.

For the record, yes I do love BMX. However, some things must be said. 1.,and this is in no particular order, BMX should be the launch pad into road and track cycling. I can tell you that if I had somebody to tell me that I would have moved on long ago. Why? the road and track gives the rider way more options. Second, BMX is just not taken seriously in the cycling world. I am sorry to say that ,but its true. 2. Clipping in is just a reality in BMX. Like it of not, if you want to win, you got to do it. 3. Road and track cycling everybody is clipped in, its a must. Kids need to learn how to use them. BMX can therefore give them the bike handling skills required for the road and track. 4. In New Jersey right now there are some really talented riders. Both in the expert, and novice classes. These riders need people to tell them like it is. If these guys want to compete on a national level, they got to here the truth. They need to be exposed to riders who have ben there and can help them. 5. Some people should just never speek. Not on the internet, not to the kids, never, for any reason.

Ant please, listen to Brett. You have nothing meaningful to say to Bob,nothing.I respect your feelings but please do not say anything. Also understand that Bob has a board of directors he has to work with. He does not make all the decisions.

It is ok to mess with me,but you better have your ducks in a row. Not everbody is going to like what I do, or what Brett does, or what Farside does. Its cool, but… be careful.
