I raced the 1990 Iron Hill, Delaware mountain bike race on my MCS Magnum cruiser. All I did was put on a set of the old toe clips with the straps. It was a 7 mile race and we did multiple laps up and down these hills. I won the 17 & under class at the event. I never walked up any hills, man was that hard. I would bunny hop the large trees and stuff which helped. After the race I got in the car to leave and every muscle cramped. Arms, neck, back legs etc. I had to wait 1 & 1/2 hours before I could drive. Thats back when I was in shape, racing Superclass and Supercruiser.

first of all turning pro so you dont have to race/pay for class is not a reason in my book for moving up…jmo

Bitd that is the way it was. If you could rule locally you went pro. They had huge local pro turn outs and those guys raced every state race because there was a purse. They also got a state plate.

It wasn’t “I can’t turn pro because I can’t win a national as a pro”. It was “I am better than the average Expert and I want to race for money”. Now the NBL doesn’t even want the pros at the local level.

Take a look at the top left. Only one of those guys was from Delaware, and he only did one race.

Get the pros back at the local level for the kids to look up to. Then they don’t have to travel to the nationals to see them. Bring back the local recognition and prestige.

I still wear my Inopias that I got from Andy. (yes Brett, those same black ones)

Now that I am back to flats only I will be wearing them a lot more. I have a pair for yard work, a pair for riding, a pair for regular wear…………

    LMFAO! Look at this page:

    http://www.confmanager.com/main.cfm?cid=656&nid=5315

Now look at the section entitled “Gear”.

Athletes compete in a full set of protective equipment that includes: a face helmet, long pants & long sleeved jersey or shirt, shoes, gloves.

Now look at the picture supplied by the UCI in the top right corner of the page.

Robbie Miranda in a short sleeve shirt. 😆

    How about this:

Racers compete in the following classes: Novice – new riders; Intermediate – moderately skilled riders; Expert – highly skilled riders; Junior – 17 & 18 year old highly skilled riders; Elite – 19 & over highly skilled riders (the highest level).

    ABA classifications mixed with UCI.

    Couldn’t find the video.
