Yup, the same High Tech gate and steep starting hill. I think the gate at that race was still manual.

Was it the 84 or 85 Ironman that was a mudfest in the motos and then dried out for the mains??? I remeber coming out of the last berm and getting off the bike and running it to the finish…

That was my first race. 11 Beg class on my Fuji…..Made the main and took 3rd. That set the hook.

First race was the WWBMXA National at Action Park 81 or 82. It was a Mud-fest. Ran 10 beg on my sweet Fuji Orange Peel with my Go Pro padded denim race pants and some volley ball elbow pads. Made the main and took 3rd. Second race was at Englishtown and got beat by Mark Zelewski….all was going great until my third race at Oakland with my new Hannah Pro full face helmet (to replace the open face motorcyle lid) crashed hard and scratched up the new skid lid…….1st win came later that year at E town on my new GT…came close before that at that Island Dragway track….

I just got my daughter an Old School GT junior to build up. Needs a stem and bars, but has red Dura ace cranks and a red Bullseye BB.

I was down there early this afternoon and saw Farside and Wog tearing up their 2nd Motos… not sure where they ended up.

The pro section looked pretty crazy, only one Elite rider in each moto could clear the berm jump!

Yea I ran the Armory, with my Home Brew slicks…actuall was first in points for for my class (14 and 15x I think) for 2 years (83 – 84) and was second overall in points in 83. Rode for SMB in 83 and TNT in 84. Nothing like dumping it at the Armory and melting your race paints on the floor. Ghetto but good times…..

    George,

Just playing, if memory serves me, you, Gibby, Mark Z all mixed it up equally. And after watching your brother he was clearly in another league. and Yes my gates were a little on the sketchy side, but when your trying to get a 46/16 moving it takes some time……

    Keep the Gibby stories coming

    Glad your on the site

    George vs. John

Hard to say I never saw George race, because I was so far ahead of him 😆

He did crash into me once at the Armory while I was stopped to pick up my trophy…..he was going pretty fast then!!!

    The grudge matches are growing:
    Wog vs. Craig: Already done
    George vs. John: TBD
    Bring me Gibby….
