    NJ BMX Inc.

NJ BMX Inc. would like to respectfully submit a request to the The Tina and Richard V Carolan Foundation Inc. for the amount of $5,000 dollars to be used for the purpose of equipment, promotional and award material. Our organization works closely with the youth of New Jersey through our BMX racing program.

The grant shall be used in the following areas to enhance our program:

*$1,400.00 for a portable public address system to be used during our state races and other large races and events we hold throughout the year.
(Please see the enclosed cost estimates from the companies we will be dealing with.)

*$1,233.00 for promotional material consisting of store posters, flyers, and bicycle hangers, to be used to draw more people to our program.
(Please see the enclosed cost estimates from the companies we will be dealing with.)

*$2,633.00 to be used for trophies, jackets and gear bags for our state awards program.
(Please see the enclosed cost estimates from the companies we will be dealing with.)

As stated above the money will be used to enhance and promote our state program with the hope of attracting more people to racing BMX in NJ.

NJ BMX Inc. was founded in 1981 to foster the promotion and growth of BMX racing in New Jersey through the cooperation of BMX tracks in the state. Our organization uses all money generated by the program to further enhance BMX racing in NJ.

NJ BMX looks forward to working with The Tina and Richard V Carolan Foundation Inc. to foster BMX racing in the Garden State.

    **UPDATED**
I have prices from the plate guy now, that was 1747 this past year, which leaves us with money for other awards. Also the price for promotional material is what I used off the websites I found, I haven’t given up on Jeff Heath’s brother but I have to make some headway somplace.

I feel like Brian needs his own section on the site here just for what he does with these classic rides!

Ok, so this “must be a sponsor” thing now makes sense to me.
See, you guys know all this stuff and I’m sitting here like this innocent little kid getting killed, lol!
Yes, I see that this has to be brought up.
In fact every single 501c3 track that Jeff “discounts” services to he can then deduct, correct?

This is a promotion I have giong with a lot of the bike companies. Some I have had going for a couple of years now. The Press Releases were issued but it was quite some time ago. I’m glad to be working with such great companies on this. We are working as an “Industry” to spread the word of BMX racing.

You can find these great promo items on Redline, Felt, Diamond back, GT, Mongoose, Schwinn, Intense, and a few others in the works. They all have the same great offer with the new bicycles. They are branded specifically to the brand that they made for. It’s a great program and it’s been working great.

I always like to look at the bikes in the local Wal-Marts, they have those promo items haging all over the place on the BMX bikes. Goos stuff for sure!

    Positive, yes or no?

I’m not asking anyone to fight it. I just want people who know what the word sponsorship means to make a stand when the time is right.
Also, and this is important. Jeff had been getting paid…whatever amount it was to update the site before I came along.
Do you all think that was ok as well?
And again, it’s not like I don’t like the guy, it’s about stepping up and doing the right thing.

I don’t look at it like a battle, more like.
    Sponsor us.
    Lower your cost.
Or your name comes off as a sponsor.

It’s only being fair to those who do sponsor things….
Like Craig here, didn’t you pay for that banner ad on the HC page?

On Jan20th. I will do what has to be done.
This will offend many, but will be best for the people who ride.

Tell Matt, all we need is for him to always push for…
    put it to a vote.

The nbl system is set up as a democracy, with a unified set of tracks having more power than the board of the state.

Not along these lines but could be taken this way….
I did remove some of the more, not as inducive to BMX as we would like posts that were pointed at EHT. Even though we have issues with some things, that track is the home of more than a few of us including you Dave as well as Rich and it wasn’t fair, at least to me, to keep dregging things up.
We know what has to be done.
We know how to do it.
It’s simply a matter of implementation.

According to my understanding of things. If you present a written explanation of why this should be done and you get a track rep to present a motion. This should be able to be voted on by the board.
Which means with 10 board members
    6 track reps.
    asst commish
    treasurer
    secretary
(commish abstaining in case of tie, which there really can’t be since there are only 9 members to begin with)
You would need 6 people to say
    yay
to the proposal and date to change whatever rule is in place.
Simple matter of democracy in action.

This is also why I say it’s important to know who your track reps are, so you can have them bring forth motions and rule changes people would like to see made.

Don_e properly the nbl way of doing things is very positive.

I voted to place it after labor day weekend.
I think the importance should be placed on how to grow the local state series. By placing the championship later in the season you are allowing the local riders more time to get their required number of races in. It’s not the state races that are a problem but the local races that require some time to get in.
I know the only triple point race a state is allowed every year is the championship but this only goes to show how the nbl only looks out for it’s own national interest and not the local scene.
If we could end the state season in late sept, early oct, then start a small fall series with the vet day, fall classic and iron man, it could very well prove to be more popular in this area than the rolling atm of nats and regionals the nbl provides.
The nbl should be notified at CC about how this should be changed. It only makes sense to end our season in sept-oct.
With another track joining the state series this year it will only make it MORE difficult to get races in as the calendar will get squeezed even tighter. (No offense to Glenn.)
I put my reg-nat blinders on when thinking of the state unless a big race falls within 2 hours driving distance of NJ.

Now let’s go hang some state series posters!
