Dave: My sentiments exactly. If they can prime-time curling, ping pong and trampoline, why not BMX. And I do believe it will generate interest, look at the US Speed Skater who saw it on the Olympics 4 years ago and said hey I can do that. He won several medals.

I think the State Series on cable would be great too. So many of the kids live so far from a track that they don’t know what BMX is. If they saw it and knew it was right here in NJ, they would want to try it.

They’ll be posted at http://www.ehtbmx.org as soon as I send them to Les. Give me a day or two to get them over to him.

Had money opens for both races at EHT.
Markie, Currier, and Hellwinkel took home the money for the second race.
Markie, Currier, Custer, and Hellwinkel took the money for the first race.

    Not necessarily in that order.

I’m biased, but EHT is my favorite. Liked the old Mullica Hill too. CJ would be my third choice and then Flemington.
Out of state tracks would include South Park (not 2005) and Grands track.
    Bethel is fun too.

‘Course I’m looking at it from a volunteer/parent perspective, not from a rider’s perspective.

What a great turn out tonight. We had 3 mains for the first race, and 1 for the second. Lot of out of staters coming down, up and over to hone their skills for the upcoming National.
The 16 & over open was a blast as usual with our Northern neighbor boys taking home nearly all the cash.
Looking forward to seeing everyone next week at the Qualifier.

Les gets to the track early. I guess the best thing would be to call Les on the track phone or send him an email to find out an exact time.

Sorry guys but April 15th is a Saturday. They must be looking at a March calendar page.

Day care is definitely a nice idea, but… So how about bringing the wife, girlfriend, or an actual babysitter with you. Or if you are female, bring the hubby, boyfriend, or babysitter. I know a couple of people that do that, they bring a teenager with them to watch the youngers while the olders race. It’ll add about 12-15 bucks to the day for 2-3 hours of sitting, plus a meal at the track, but could be worth it.
    Just a thought.

The DRPs are the best. Most of them work really hard, are always there, and are basically a group of pretty good guys. Even with a full crew of regular volunteers, we would still welcome our DRPs.

Egg Harbor is not racing Saturday due to the Hampton Regional and some of our volunteers being away for other reasons.

We tried to make it as easy as possible to qualify this year for a plate taking into consideration the kids who do a lot of Nationals and Regionals. We looked at the # of races run throughout the State over the course of the season (nearly 90) and figured everyone could make 1 out of 6 Qualifiers and 4 out of nearly 90 total races for locals. A total of 6 races including the Championship isn’t very hard. That totals 1 race per month from March to August. Unfortunately no possible combination of races will ever make everyone happy. We actually have very relaxed rules compared to most other states. We also must abide by NBL rules, which state that “Each state must have a designated State Championship. Each State must have at least 2 state qualifiers. Riders are required to attend two or more local races…”

There is an open state meeting Saturday April 22nd, following the Egg Harbor State Qualifier. All are welcome to attend.
