Put it on the NJ site, fine but that’s not going to reach anyone beyond the people that already know about it. You need to advertise it beyond NJ.

    i knew he’d be back…

I knew I’d get the “I told you so” from you Debbie.

Actually, I’m psyched because I figure I can ride my road bike to the races, announce and ride home.

I think a “press release” should be sent to sites like BMX mania, BMX news, Vintage, and whatever else you can think of about two weeks before each race to get people to come out. I’ve seen other pro-ams mentioned on those sites. Also a press release with the standings could be sent after each race. This was a pretty damn good series and it could rival Florida’s pro series. Each race was fairly lucrative and it was a title series. That’s more than just a few disjointed races that nobody cares about which is what pro-ams at state qualifiers used to be. For once people actually cared about racing. If it’s advertised I’ll bet you could get guys from Virginia, Pittsburgh, the northeast, etc. There’s no reason there shouldn’t three full gates at each race.

Not that it makes any huge difference but I was thinking I might like to come back and announce some of the races this year. I enjoyed announcing at Pottstown very much and my last day at Flemington was fun too.

Bob, I’m not bagging on you or Bensalem BMX but you just don’t get it. Ten people don’t matter. They had another use for the land so since only ten of their residents used the track they took it. I’m not going to blame them for taking the track. And if you’re still going to bars and restaurants in Bensalem then they’ve got your money and they’re laughing all the way to the bank.

Money makes the world go round. Blue Diamond switched from BMX to pit bikes because they were making 0 on BMX. Mullica Hill BMX was on 4H club land and was supposed to pay a monthly rent to the 4H club but they stopped paying it. The 4H club wasn’t getting any benefit from the BMX track anymore so they said, “We’re tired of your asses, you’re outta here” How much you wanna bet if they were still getting the rent that they’d keep the track? Because that land still sits idle.

What happened to Bensalem could happen to Flemington or Egg Harbor if those townships decided they had a better use for the land. Flemington was already moved down the hill because they wanted to put a building there. They were lucky they had room to relocate the track.

BMX ain’t baseball and as such doesn’t enjoy the popularity baseball does. So no, they don’t care about a BMX track. Anyone in this country that can get a township to agree to building a BMX track is lucky. And if you do, make sure you get lots of local kids because that’s what they want to see.

This is so bizarre. I’ve never looked at Craig’s list. I went to that site for the first time today and what do I find in the Philly section? Some guy saying his PK Ripper was stolen last night around the corner from me in Pine Hill. If I see anything I’ll let him know. Tonight I see someone is trying to sell a PK Ripper in South Jersey. He’s looking into that. How sweet would it be if that were his bike?

Yadda, yadda, yadda. You know what townships care about? They want to know how many of their OWN kids use the track. How many Bensalem residents raced at Bensalem? 10? 15 is probably a stretch. Nobody cares about 10 people. The land would be more valuable to them as a dump. If Bensalem were getting 50 motos then perhaps 100 of them would have been Bensalem residents and the township might have cared enough to say, “We need this land but we’ll find another spot for you” With only 10 of their residents using the track it makes no difference to them if it just dissapears. They’re not getting rid of the baseball diamonds and the basketball courts, just the BMX track.

Well, well, well. This topic has really brought out the stupid in people. Bmxer901 takes the prize with his hypothesis that dirt turns would be an insurance problem. You must have been up all night coming up with that one, professor. Perhaps you should smoke pot AFTER getting on the computer and not before.

Penny is making more sense than all of you guys. For anyone that wants to return to 1982 I suggest you start your own track. Then you can make it any way you like. Hell, you can douse it with water and run mud races every week. That would be “MX” wouldn’t it?

People took their feet off the pedals back in the day because turns were flat and we were still imitating motocross. We wanted to look and feel just like motocross stars. The only thing is motorcycles have a MOTOR. Bicycles don’t. Kinda difficult to get speed with one foot off on a bicycle. People finally realized that 15 years later and the old foot-off technique went away.

Chandler, by the way, being in the desert and getting no rain was hard as rock. The turns were so hard and smooth that peoples tires were laying down rubber, creating a black line around the turns. There was no roosting in those turns. Come to think of it, makes me wonder if they did have soiltac back in 89 when I was there.

I actually prefered dirt turns and it can be done but it takes a ton of work. I can’t blame any track for using asphalt because there’s no maintenance. For any one that suggests running dirt turns you DAMN well better step up and be there every week to work on it. And where have all you dirt lovers been while Bensalem has been struggling these past few years? They’ve got five enormous dirt turns waiting for you. Let’s see you put your money where your mouth is and work on those turns. If you hurry you’ve got a few weeks left.

Sorry, I was out of town this weekend. I hope everything went well. Sounds like there was good and bad.

Acutally I was at a crazy huge organized 100 mile road ride. 5500 people from around the country came to ride road bikes around Salisbury, MD. I can’t believe how many road riders there are in this country.

BMX is still way cooler and should be ten times as big. Don’t let a few people ruin it. Keep fighting. I gave instructions with it but if you need help with the PA system, let me know.

I don’t want to be comissioner. I retired, remember? Scott Cranmer’s a good guy in a tough position. He’s caught between the people that need to leave and the people that want change.

For whoever uses the PA system this weekend (and it better get used) there’s a AAA battery in the headset itself that should be fresh and you have to actually wear the headset for it to work. The tiny but excellent microphone under the windscreen faces your mouth when you WEAR the headset.

I watched that yesterday. Front flip tailwhip? You have to have a degree in physics just to figure it out. That was awesome.

I just don’t understand why they changed it last year and now are changing again.

Because the NBL is run by retards, that’s why. I think they’ve changed the name of A pro every year for the past six years. They can’t make up their minds. They’re just retarded. Have fun racing that idiot organization.

Tom I’ve got ABA papers from the 86, 87, and 88 Liberty Nationals and you’d really like the one because you beat me both days in 17i. I meant to scan that stuff because there’s some names from the past in there that would make people here fall over. I should come back just to take you out. I don’t think I ever returned the favor. I probably tried but just bounced off you.

Road riding has it’s share of whack jobs just like BMX and I thought, hmm, maybe road riding is no better than BMX and I should go back. Then I remembered my shoulder is feeling better day by day.

I do group rides and I’ve got my little egg crate but when I’m by myself I don’t bother. One guy I know fell on a group ride and lost his four front teeth. His little egg crate didn’t do squat sitting on top of his head. But they swear by them!

That must have been the day I rode down to Folsom and back. That’s my new loop and it takes me past Leapin Lenny’s house too. Too bad you didn’t pass me when I was in Folsom because I got a flat. There’s another loop I ride with some buddies that takes us past Mullica Hill. I have to salute every time I pass.

Chris, I’m easy to recognize. I’m the ONLY roadie you’ll see that doesn’t wear a helmet. Every roadie thinks those little egg crates they call helmets are gonna save them. They protect nothing. If you really want to be protected you need a full face and since that’s not practical for road riding I don’t wear anything. They wear tiny little spandex t-shirts and shorts and they think a piece of foam that covers the crown of their head is what they need to protect them. Besides, we’re riding on flat ground. If there aren’t six foot high jumps and seven other guys trying to kill you, who needs a helmet? I’m in the minority on that opinion but I don’t care. I’ve got 21 years experience in falling off bikes so I know a little bit about it.

Sorry to hear about this. Hope he feels better.

Sounds similar to what I did back in 2002 there at EHT. All I remember was driving down the AC expressway and the next thing I knew I was in a hospital bed looking at my parents. I have no recolection of the six hours in between and yes, that is for the best.

    open face for LIFE

Sorry, one of the dumbest statements ever made. I had an open face with a mouthguard but it wasn’t enough. A full face would have saved my teeth.

WEAR A FULL FACE ALL THE TIME!
