the track director is one of the 3 i was referring to.
i think cj has way more volunteers than your average track thats what makes it sucessful. bottom line.

the prob with so many tracks i think( my opinion here) is that while a large sum of money is greatly needed for a number of things in nj bmx, tracks included, by “putting your money where your mouth is” i meant more as an effort rather than money issue..you can build a beautifully designed track/facility and if there is not enough volunteers to maintain it then it goes to pot rather quickly.
unfortunately there are a limited # of families (maybe 3 if i counted correctly) who are consistantly there to groom and keep up on things. this is the problem and all the money in the world wont help this situation till somoene( a lot of someones actually) step up to the plate on a regular basis.
kinda like planting sod and leaving it for a month with no rain…. does no good at all…

seriously though riding around the neighborhood vs vegging out in front of some stupid show… no kid in his right mind would choose the tv.
in a health class at the school where i work the kids are asked to turn the tv off for a week and keep a log of what they do for fun instead…most are riding around on their bikes or out playing kickball etc…
i think that you older riders that introduce the real little guys (like rodneys kids age) to riding arent pushing them… just opening up a door of possibiities
dave are you off on sat? they have a great plan/ drawings/ideas thta the riders have asked for…( changes.. )its not that bad just needs a tune up and a face lift of sorts…
theres a difference betw pushing your kid and just opening the door…showing them the bikes getting them one that fits them or one they are comfortable on now is not pushing them…isnt it normal for everykid to have a bike? thats not pushing. but by NOT exposing them to bmx/ or bikes in general now thats negligance…. lol
you can just take bike rides around the block with your little guy/gal, go to the park and ride, just get on the bike on a reg basis and expose him/her to it. thats not pushing its just healthy family fun.
i told someone once on another thread about my cousins son in fla..this poor kid has only been on his bike ( a 20″ with training wheels for gosh sakes) twice in a year and he is about 8 yrs old… how can you expect a kid to learn to love the sport or even to ride a bike in general… if you dont get him outside and away from the friggin videogames???

all hands on deck this sat if anyone can lend a hand to help out with flemington track… that would be great… i think matt may be getting some equiip there if all goes as planned and anyone who is staying local please come by if you can to help out…
i heard some folks complaining that the track is in bad shape well lets put your money where your mouth is and come down and help make it better…oh and dont forget and bring your bikes too….
