The bottom line, the last chance, all or NOTHING. That’ the way it went down in July at CJBMX and the final 2 State Qualifiers till the Championship in August. The track was in rocking and rolling condition, the tunes were blasting on the P.A. and everyone was ready to give it up for their last shot at big points!

A shower tent was set up down by the concession stand to let everyone cool off in the crazy heat that was going down at the track. Again CJ comes up with crazy new ideas to make racing more than taking a lap on a track.

On to the raging racing action!
Rookie ranks, the future NEXT YEARS novice class. Here’s a few highlights!

5 & Under Gabe Hatem..well he lovedem firsts, because he took home the win both days!

6 Rookie. A name that is familiar, Vliet, Chris’s kid busted numero uno both days in the class following in dad’s footsteps, or is that pedals?

Karsten Tribus traded places with Jeremy Haney on Sunday with Karsten getting the win on Saturday.

Lot of guys going for wins on both days, but enough of the guys who keep winning, how about the gents in 2nd and 3rd, ’cause they’re always trying harder!

Billy Wittig pushing through for 2nd and 3rd in 9 Rookie. Ryan Pappas getting number 2 both days going for it all though at the same time!

Amanda Robbins racing the boys both days! 3rd place for now but much higher in the future, do it up ladies!

Finally 17+ Rookie, Kyle Robinson busting loose both days, look for this guy to move up soon as he is airing it in that class!

Over to the big wheeled ranks.

In the tiny tyke cruiser ranks Tyler Warner went away with double firsts both days! Watching the micro- maniacs blazing on the big wheel bikes really makes you see how far BMX tech has come!

The men the cruisers were designed for, the 30+ guys. We all know who they are, the creaking of the knees coming out of the gate is always a dead giveaway that they are on the track, hehe,  30-34 Cruiser was romped on both days by ex old school factory Hutch kid and current EHT track man, Chris Vliet. Chris is a vet of the BMX wars and is another welcome addition to NJ’s new emergence as the BMX powerhouse it should be.

Rich Farside burned off plenty of steam on Saturday by racing, cruiser, class and open! The bionic Farside took the wins in class and cruiser AND rolled a deuce in open, beating out some riders that were almost 23 years his junior. A-mazing! Flying Phil Delizia smoked the open class both days, taking home some party cash for the trip to Brazil at the end of July. Phil also did a killer clinic after the races for all the young dudes out there. If Philly D is the future of BMX, then BMX is about to take over the world!

The ladies classes were taken by Farside, Haugh and Godino. We need to do some recruiting for the women out there, lots of combined classes, great racing but these ladies deserve to start rocking all over competitors the same age!

Mini flyboys. where you stand the bike on its end and it is taller than they are.

Kyle Hamblin took out the 6 Novice class both days, son of HC local Loren Hamblin, super dad and current king of the 35+ nervous class!

Christopher Koval and Kyle Dulock traded places over the weekend giving each one a win for the weekend, this class will be tight come the Championship in August!

9 Expert, consistency counts and this weekend the overall rider was Tommy Gillis, getting the second both days behind Cranmer and Resz, this is gonna be a crazy class in years to come!

The full factory Filippones wreaked havoc on Saturday with Paul beating out kids 2 years his senior to get a 10 Expert win and Luke doing the honors in 14 Expert also beating dudes 2 years older than him! Bad news story though is that Luke went down on Sunday and broke his collarbone, get well soon bud, we’ll be looking for ya at CJ!

De-man, Derosa took apart the 11-12 Expert class on Sunday in a prelim of going to the worlds in 3 weeks. Schneider and Behm followed him around on Sunday, with Schneider taking the win on Saturday.

Gary Transue smoked 14 novice both days! Way to roll em T-minator!

The fully graduated class 18-21 Expert welcomed a new psycho this weekend, Massive Mike Kouterick. The move didn’t slow him down at all, cause he romped a 3rd on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday. Who smoked the class? Well, Saturday, Phil D wasn’t content enough with taking the open class, he also wanted to show what 18-21 was about and did them in on that day. Jimmy Moore rocked ’em on Sunday.

The male Haugh, Crankin Chris, took over the 22-29 class both days, laying the smack down for Pt Pleasant Bikes! It seemed everywhere you looked over the weekend there was a Haugh winning, taking registrations or asking why there weren’t more ladies in NJ BMX Szine, lol. Major supporters of the NJ scene, examples for us all.

As mentioned above Rich Farside once again strolled down first place lane and let all the old boys know what was up. Both days Torquing Tom McMurray got the second in 35 Over, and yes his name is TOM not Stephen, a major editorial retraction is coming in the next issue of NJ BMX Szine. Busted up Rob Bennett rolled the gate on Sunday to get the state points needed to qualify for the Championship.

Dale “The Titanic” Meghan did roll in for a 3rd on Saturday when he was combined with 35+, but got the win on Sunday after throwing elbows with Vliet going down the first straight, some crazy tight racing from two guys who truly have given a lot for the sport.

Next stop is the State Championship right back here at CJBMX on August 19th. Check the point standings to see where you are and prepare for a full on assault at the President’s Cup this December. CJ is also throwing down a party after the Championship so be sure to sign up for that and have a blast at the races.

Once again major thanks must be given to Janeen, THE State Clerk for how prompt she gets the points out and gets me the results to get these stories together. New Jersey is quickly becoming the example that all other states will follow.

See you guys and guyettes in August!

NJ BMX, viva la Warnicke!
