I was wondering if anyone uses one looking for some recommendations.I broke my left arm/ dislocated elbow in Jan 07 riding MX 8screws ti-plate it has healed well lots of therpy so I kinda don’t wanna mess it up again so a bit of extra protection would help.

It will be hard to find anything to do more than prevent cuts. Because of the size of your arm, the device won’t be big enough to take enough of the impact away. Or if it is big enough and strong enough, you won’t be able to move.

I broke my left humerus 2 times, the second time included bending the titanium rod from the first fix. My left shoulder was redone with 4 screws to fix all the torn tendons and biceps.

My doctor sent me over to a specialist that designs braces and after about 5 minutes, he said he couldn’t do anything.

Just rehab and exercise to build up muscle and flexibility.

Learning to tuck and roll to the opposite side will help too!!!!!

    Mike,

I still recommend you wear forearm protection, and maybe consider one of the various chest protectors with shoulder guards if you are just coming back. Get some knee/shin protectors, too. I have two pairs of both, one are Troy Lee’s and the other Answer. The Answer are heavier plastic, but a little stiffer, but I barely notice when I ride.

Another device is the 661 Pressure suit, it has forearm and shoulder protection, chest plate and pad (the plastic plate is removable) and also has a removable spine protector. I have ridden with one of these, and its fairly flexible and you feel alot more secure.

At your size, you’d probably use a large, unless you are stocky and broad shouldered, then maybe an XXL. I have a brand new XXL that I used once, but I am not very broad shouldered, so its a tad big on me. I will be at CJBMX for the upcoming state races, I’ll bring it with me. Ask around for Crazy Craig, everyone knows me so I am not hard to find.

If you want to check out protective gear, go to http://www.answerracing.com

They are a co-sponsor of my team, and if you see something you like, call me, I can get anything from their site discounted.
