bmiddaughMember
woa, woa woa son.
Where did you get this info?
This is cool as shit.bmiddaughMemberActually, I’m kidding, Lisa does the points and has been kicking tail promoting BMX all year.
As well as having a jacked foot.
Wish the Heathette well below.bmiddaughMemberAnd they said this site should be shut down, jeesh… 😆
bmiddaughMemberCool,
and if someone wants to help out.
Let them.bmiddaughMemberBob.
Rock on man, jamming the cruiser in the promised land. —bmiddaughMemberYa know.
I just re-read all my posts.
At no point did I say, flemington sucked (someone else did though…)
Nor did I say no-one is busting their ass to work on it.
In fact I pointed out that all you guys are busting your asses to work on it, before Tom even did.Could HC have had a complete rebuild.
Yes.
Did they accept the offer.
No.
So I have been trying to make it clear that when people say “no one wants to help work on the track”, that is not entirely the truth.
You had
1. A benefactor willing to fork out cash to completely rebuild it.
2. Some hard working BMX maniacs, (sorry Tom but that is you and the fellers) who would have helped get the job done. Why #1 didn’t come to fruition is beyond me as I have met and personally spoken to Rich on many occasions and he seems like a decent guy.
bmiddaughMemberYou read newspaper articles in local and regional papers about towns trying to save landmarks of historical value, a peice of their heritage. Thats basically my pitch about flemington.
That is an excellent marketing tool and if I was the guy who was doing a lot of work at flemington, I’d use it.
Fellers, I never said if flemington gets rundown it should be shutdown.
I said if rundown leads to shutdown. It was actually meant to be a blanket statement, there are tracks out there getting 6-9 motos.
Out there meaning the USA, not just NJ.
Somethings busted someplace for racing, I just haven’t figured it out yet.bmiddaughMemberbmiddaughMemberHere’s a better one.
Let’s say I am an asshole now for making that statement.
Tom’s wants to pimp me, you wanna jack me.
Then why aren’t all of HC’s locals out storming every place kids are putting the word out that HC is the best f-ing place to ride in NJ? Telling kids out there ,get your butt to the track man!
One of your own locals actually said at a meeting, “are you sure we should do flyers? That could lead to liability issues.”
These kinds of things are what drives me crazy.I totally forgot about Bevins’ ashes. Holy cow, I mean you guys have a gentleman who believe in that track so much that he wanted to be buried there. I mean what greater honor is there for a track man?!
There isn’t even a sign out front during a state race!
Help me out here, throw me a bone.
Last year when everyone was saying how crappy HC was, I drove from my house all the way up there to take pictures and see how it was. I put a nice little write up about how it was a fast downhill track and all, told everyone to come check it out.Yes, my roots go directly back to Flemington. Directly back, I got my first real BMX bike from Pete’s bike shop.
bmiddaughMemberMy first race was at Pete’s bike shop in 1979 on the Flemington Oval track.
So I remember all that stuff.
History though is just that history.
If any track or skatepark or whatever can’t make the mustard it’s gonna go away. It happens.
Damn, it happened to my own ramp-park in S Plainfield.
But new things will take it’s place, a lot of times they can even be better.
My place shut down, and new places popped up.
I’m not calling for flemington to shutdown.
I’m saying that if new people want to start new places then why shouldn’t they?
I don’t really flaunt anything, I just try to get the word out.
My historic footprint on NJ is tantamount to nothing.I’m thinking I may have to refocus my energies in BMX.
In fact that’s a good idea.
I’m gonna have to talk to a few people.bmiddaughMemberum, that should be a post of its own.
Awesome idea.
That’s the way it used to sorta be way back.
A group of maniacs piled in a van and went to the track.
And oh yes, there were some ornery characters in there…bmiddaughMemberIt is as simple as that.
I swear it was.
But everyone blew things up because of egos, that is as Dave would say, fo sho.
I gotta know who all these other older riders were that came in like gangbusters and then faded out. Does anyone have names? I heard the same thing from Linda.
If the people in charge of NJBMX treated anyone even remotely like they treated me and for that matter my g/f, I could see why they came in all stoked and left saying forget this. My g/f won’t even come to the track because of what happened to her. I see a lot of bright spots out there, yourselves included, Debbie, Tom and the gang but all it takes is a few vocal people who treat new people unfairly and the newbies will not return.
Dang, peeps, you’ve all told me your stories of the totally uncool stuff that has happened in the past at these tracks and you think that does not have an effect on turnouts? I don’t get it, and then you turn a blind eye.
If you see something that is going on that is wrong you must confront the people doing wrong somehow. Jeeshush!I don’t know…
More places to ride sounds like a good idea to me.Does everyone here want more places to ride or less?
bmiddaughMemberCan we get back to why I put this up in the first place.
Is anyone making any HEADWAY in starting new places to ride in NJ.
That’s all I wanted to know.
WTF man!bmiddaughMemberThe hell you will Rich.
Your timely intervention there woke me back the hell up about what happened to us over the past 2 years and I’m not gonna put up with it anymore.
Everyone stop thinking this is their sport and realize it WAS ours and now it’s a new group that we can hopefully bring in.
ONLY if we get OUR shit together. Snuff out the chaff and get going.
Start saying what is on your mind and get going.
What is everyone waiting for?
F- Ant if he don’t like clips.
F- Tommydone if he thinks clips sucks.
F- Rich if he feels clips are fine for racing.
There’s only about 187 kids….and about 1/4 of them are ADULTS racing in this state.
Apparently, judging by those numbers…
BMX RACING IS FOR IDIOTS.
Does ANYONE on this website believe that?
Or do they believe BMX racing is the best thing going and that it made SIGNIFICANT positive impacts on their lives?
Regardless of clips, carbon fiber or those gay ass racing leathers everyone wears, (hey what can I say it’s my new pet peeve, lol) I think we all agree BMX is a good thing.
It is time to put behind the nonsense and focus on building the sport and building the sport includes building places to ride and race.
Dammit man, we started something here that grew into us making MAJOR inroads. We can do this, because we were trained by BMX itself to do it.
Get beat.
Get back up.
Start again.
Train harder.
F-ing WIN.
DAMN.bmiddaughMemberit just aggrivates me that the longest standing track on the east coast sucks incredibly..
Yes folks.
Flemington NJ has had a BMX track since 1979.Be that as it may, there seems to be MAJOR BMX interest in the Metuchen-Edison area. Perhaps interest should be put there for BMX where a need could be fulfilled.
