he did that in 1st grade even brought the bike in for the school haloween parade… of course all the kids thought he had the best costume there!

i dont know about the old school race i think there is an age qualification/ you have to dress old school/ flats mandatory i do know that… i will ask matt this weekend.

they have all sorts of opens i think for every age. the16″ race( pit bike or garage sale junk- your choice) is open to anyone/anyage… my son used a pieced together/ garage sale parts bike last yr it was so cool but broke the crank off at the christmas classic this past yr…haha so much for plastic pedals…)

they usually have haloween goodie bags and all sorts of raffle prizes/ 50/50 and fun-off the wall races.. one year we did a backwards race where they started from the finishline… another time it was run to your bike and then take off with someone holding the bikes on the first tabletop… lots of suprises…

the last straight new section should be finished they are working on it this weekend i think so it should be sweet.

ant you should bring your nephews to flem…there were quite a few brand new little guy riders there on saturday i was suprised.. too bad they didnt come out earlier in the year but theres pleney of weekends left if the weather cooperates…

your son is the best advertizement…. the more he talks it up the more friends will want to try it.

kids talking about it in school is a great firt step…. when my son was in kindergarten he brought one of his large trophies in for a “show and share” day and boy was that a hit… the following weekend i took 2 kids to the track to check it out on a non race day if it wasnt for the flat we got on the one kids bike( they had to share after that) we prob would have been there all night… unfortunately the parents didnt come with us and i think the hard part is getting parents to go the distance whether its the drive or the commitment i dont know… i say we get them before little league or pop warner and we have a better chance… parents are a hard sell to a sport that is not as “mainstream” as we would like it to be. so get um while they are young before they commit to a spring/summer sport. the flyers are key the more the merrier!!

let me know who only goes to 5 nationals ( last yr)?i personallydont know anyone who just did 5. unless you are the bmx superhero who gets all 5 perfects your first try ( like joey bradford maybe?) most kids want to do more than 5 to get better points so i doubt the increase in nat qualifiers for the grands will have an impact at all.

if what racerx says is true…

that he has “seen” more ppl who were NOT local riders… who these people are i have no idea… local means they live close… it has to be people who live close. do you think kids just get in thier car on any given day and just say ..oh lets drive 30 mins and spend 20 bucks on gas to the track and do some damage?… i dont think so… nowadays everyone has a digital camera…(or keep a disposable one in your glove box of your car just in case) next time you “see” some of thse folks you can take a picture from a distance and get some proof if thats what they need… most digital cameras have a zoom that you can do it from your car there are ways to be discreet…. but get some proof.. then hand it over to the police.
