Building bikes is therapy for me. I have several projects going on. I guess I should build one for my wife – that would be cool.
JV Bikes supported Braddock like crazy – yeah it was BITD – but Beacon could learn a lesson from them. Still – BMXers have varied tastes and its hard to know what to carry these days.
Still – I’m with Ant – we need shop support – and I have started getting the word out there and my two local shops – Marty’s and Cyclecraft – have agreed to put up posters, etc. advertising the races – someone please let me know how to get this stuff.
I went through Marty’s to order a pair of S&M cruiser bars – pretty much paid the same as if I went online. Ordered some stuff through Rodney at High Gear, same thing. I’ll admit I was using ebay and Dans Comp – but figure I can’t ask for any breaks / perks from my local guy unless I support him first.
So – before we rant about lack of support – have you tried giving your local shop – or at least the known entities like High Gear – a chance to get what you need? Its a two-way street y’all.

What you are describing is nirvana – and that is what I try to do everyweek – but it does not always work out.
My wife – and I’m sure the same can be said for others here – has other commitments. She is a f/t teacher, p/t private teacher, involved in our church’s music program, finishing her masters, etc. Sound familiar to anyone? Also, not everyone knows a teen that can tag along.
I think Rodney has started something here – and maybe it won’t turn into true daycare – but maybe – just maybe – we can set up a specific category for this in the forums. A place where peolple can post their need and/or where parents with non-racing teens can offer their services – or even has we all get to know each other lets try and help each other out.
Lets keep the discussion going and not let this turn into a dead thread – but hopefully start connecting folks who need with those who can help.
