ok great – the conversation i had w/my friend at pottstown was very depressing and not what the locals had in mind when the switch was planned.

wow i like the race locals to get your national main points in rule. sounds like a great idea. there are a lot of things about the aba i dont know but boy i dont know if we could get 10 locals in though with all the rainouts and cancellations. that would mean that the tracks wouldnt be able to close on weekends there were nationals/regionals( we lost alot of track time there in jersey for sure) but in order to keep them open the volunteers have to be parents whos kids dont go to the away races…

kind of like a catach 22

brett whatever you guys decide to do please speak to somoene over at cheri lindsay track they had a heap of trouble this yr when they decided to “make the switch” and had problems with their contract and what happened in all of this was that the riders suffered. i spoke to a friend of mine who has ch lindsay as his home track and he said when all was said and done they had a total of 5 LOCAL RACES and ended up back nbl… their season was shot.. the kids suffered in the long run.

so i am not saying not to look elsewhere but whatever you do please have all your eggs in a basket and research this fully would hate to repeat the same scenerio here in jersey we dont need the riders racing less our goal is to get more riders on more tracks and more often correct?

this comment referring to your legal thread/ nbl contract above. i dont know anything about what we can or cant do but please speak to someone at this track who has been there done that…i believe g.elmy visits this site as well as nebmxnews.com on occasion ask him he is very knowlegable about the transition( or lack of it ) that they went through.

if i remember correctly there was one person who was on the jersey committee that yr( and i think he got stuck with it as no one else stepped up to the plate. if it wasnt for him doing the design/color they would have wore repeat jerseys or worse yet none! but dont quote me i would have to ask mr memory when he gets home..lol)

the same design was presented with 4 diff colors and i think they were yellow/ blue/green/ black or red i dont remember

if you have this many opinions i can only imagine with kids. iw ould say you would have to have a group of riders making up a “jersey design comittee” that would have to meet and design way ahead of time. look what it takes to get adults to meet, kids may be more difficult…be careful what you wish for.

college teams competing that would get some attn from riders/parents/sponsors/media

face it a very small % riders have the talent to make this a job. why not have colleges have bmx as a competition sport like football, baseball etc with scholarships…the works..

if a kid w/talent in a sport like football take mcdow for example.. he is one of the fastest riders out there… now next yr when he thinks about college and he will prob get offered some sort of assistance/ ride for school do you think he is goin to say forget it i want to ride my bike?? athletes have to make decisions that will benifit them for the future and unfortunately if he was to sign a letter of intent i dont think they would take to highly to him racing bmx in his spare time. i dont know this as fact but i think this is more common than we think. hs coaches get ticked off if you injure yourself doing “outside sports” other than what your varsity sport is i can only imagine colleges being strict as well.

so what do these kids do when the parents are faced with a decision? football or bmx? the ride could mean the dif of getting in a better school that the athlete wouldnt necessarily be accepted to otherwise.

i dont know what the answer is. would be nice if bmx racing was a more mainstream sport for this reason alone.
