beacon always had a very competitive state team a few yrs back… in fact daryl used to work on the kids bikes and be backed up with repairs/ builds etc. i dont know what happened. they used to have a deal when you could bring in dans ad and they would match any price ( without shipping) it was pretty good since i always thought they were overpriced compared to other shops… what about the dad who goes for the first time to that track and has to deal with changing the infamous 1 1/8 cruiser tube? what a nightmare, would be nice to be able to go in and have some assistance or a quick change during a race day.
i have no idea what happened.
bmxmom156Membermr mac sounds like he has his facts straight.
i also would give my right arm to see 30 motos average at every track every week. when we started 12 yrs ago cj was a consistant 45-50 every sunday and we had mains in 5 under rookie.
do i think there will be a co-mingling of the sanctions?i doubt it. we used to go to bensalem but like you said who is going to get another license to race under 20 motos on another day of the week.
ct has 4 tracks that run on different days im pretty sure they get over 30 motos consistantly week to week( alot more at torrington) what are they doing that we arent? they are all within an hr and 1/2 of each other. its the same rider base/give or take a few going to all the tracks. they can race 4x a week if they choose to. i dont see many families chasing national points in both sanctions its too much $$ so if they all went one way or the other it would benifit the riders. how to pick which one is the hard part.
bmxmom156Memberi would assume you either A/ dont have any kids and
B/ are not in the marketing field or
C/ have absolutely no visioni am with brett… why not? if you dont ask you dont get. if everyone had that attitude kids would be riding around with tassles hanging off their handlebars instead of racing bikes. someone had an idea somewhere along the line. you mean to tell me that violence sells more than sports- related video games? it has to be 50/50 and from a parents perspective i would rather spend the money for christmas presents on the sporting video games.(if i HAVE to) i buy for all my neices and nephews and i had to buy at least 4-5 of those tony hawk games when they first came out and there was a backorder too!! so why not bmx racing?
maybe you are right maybe it wouldnt appeal to the older rider but you have to remember that the audience you want to hit first is the younger kids. like i said i am not into video games but any promo for the sport is better than nothing.
bmxmom156Memberi am not the video game expert ( haha dont laugh we still have ps1 here) but i can see them making a game where you have just say 3 level tracks.. beginner / intermediate/ pro tracks..(like the one for the worlds). you can pick your rider( pro) or use your own name and who you race…just like the backyard football games… can you see kids putting themselves in a race… they are in gate 2 and randy stumphouser is in 4 and they go around the first turn…. take out the whole pack or pimp in the turns.. whatever. … you have to have elbows/crashes to make it interesting of course… they could keep points which when accumulated can earn them a full factory sponsorship or something like that..
im sure one of you older guys who have been around could think up somethng creative…hey you could even have an “old school” section on the game where the races are flats only…etc. could def be cool..
they could start selling these at nationals/ online… remember when they had those little freestyle finger bikes the kids all went nuts for? i think dan still has a box of them somewhere…. kids would def go for a racing video game..
bmxmom156Memberis that roberts rules?
bmxmom156Memberjust sent it to my brother in law (he is a retired seabee) awesome!
bmxmom156Memberi think the open series(warrier) started with a dad in ct who just took the bull by the horns and ran with it. i am not sure of the particulars but i think janeen has the details on that.
i cant see any problems with this at all. you are just taking a normally occurring race ( 16 over open) and making it into a series for those who want to participate. if you dont want to do the series then you are just there for the day. plain and simple. we went up there for a couple “just for the day” to try it out and it was awesome. like i said i cant see a problem with attracting 25 or more riders (in or out of state)to nj tracks for a money open .
is this item on the ajenda for the next meeting?
bmxmom156Memberyou only have what 3-4 local pros anyway? and like i said if you take away the pro/am races and you shut out the older experts they will find another place to race. i know for one we will be traveling to ct to do their series if nj does that. you have to try to keep them in it not exclude them. all i heard for 2 yrs is ” I cant wait to turn 16 to race those guys” thats what makes them faster chasing down the likes of phil etc… not mixing them with novices racing class only.
not to offend anyone but look at it thru the eyes of a 16-18 yr old…do you think that the 2 jimmy m’s, danny, vinny, and the rest of the up and comming kids will turn pro just to race the open in a state/ local race? i highly doubt it. i see the new pros who went pro a little prematurely not even making it out of motos at a national. not to dis anyone but that was their decision. are there riders who needed to turn up ? sure. should most of them that went up to pro at woodward have stayed am? i think they are the ones who can answer that question. i dont think they should have. but thats just my opinion.
i dont care, it dosnt matter to me, i will take my son to wherever he wants to race if that be out of state to get competition so be it. we have already had this conversation this past summer. nj needs to build up their program not exclude riders or discourage them. i agree with brett. when we start seeing 3-4 racks of pro/am like ct does at torrington on a sunday then start splitting the class if you like. untill then building it up is the only way.
bmxmom156Memberi also heard that gary transue fell and broke his hand/ wrist on sat race. get better soon!! at least you have the winter to recoup and gear up for spring…
bmxmom156Memberyou have to have ams in the open. i dont think local experts will go pro just to run that series. maybe i misunderstood something? what is wrong with having ams in the opens? you cut them out then you will really have a problem and lose them completely. there is not a prob with experts moving up its everyone else…
bmxmom156Memberyea i remember having a conversation online w/janeen about the ct pro/am warrior series.
i like the idea… def keep the ams in or you shoot yourself in the foot. there arent enough pros locally and the more the merrier.
i would keep them at the state races but keeping them away from the closer nationals/regional as there will be a better draw. i know no one wants to worry about the nats but its a bmx fact of life. maybe incorporate into 1 local a month at each track as well.. like eht takes may, cj takes one in june and flem in august during one of thier local races.
ct does it and for thier first yr it has been very successful.
i dont think anyone cares whos idea it was just that it was a keeper…
!
bmxmom156Membergood we didnt miss anything.
whoa that herman in 17-18x is inhuman
ok how long is that track total ft? theykeep saying 900 ft of rhythm..it prob is longer than it looks…but they have to be exaggerating..right?
bmxmom156Membergot a black screen past 15 mins… anyone know who won 16 x and 17-18 x?? that stinks…
bmxmom156Memberpoor kid it looked like the kid who was slightly in front clipped his front tire?? he got up and rode away so thats good..
2 years ago iwas in the hosp for the nbl grands so i couldnt go.. but i listened online to the broadcast… what a frustrating experience. this is so nice compared to that… back then it was loading and buffering the whole time…thank god my girlfriend from ct called me and held her cell to the speakers whenever dans moto came up…lol
bmxmom156Memberthanks bill for the aba 101 class
im still confused…. now if danny says he wants to go to oklahoma next yr im gonna kick your a**!!! it will be all your fault! i had to sit here and listen to him cus out the computer everytime it buffers(thank god i had a lot of laundry to catch up on this weekend) and goes to black screen ( he is less techy than me)
